The Smithsonian Libraries present an exposition: Magnificent Obsessions, Why we collect, in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, which illuminates the passions, in some cases streaks of lunacy, that make some collect compulsively; books specially. Many collections ultimately passed on by the owners to the collections of the Smithsonian library. Blessed lunacy. (…)
